Javier Hernandez: Why Sir Alex Ferguson Should Trust Chicharito To Start

Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez is the pride of Mexico, but is quickly becoming the pride of Manchester United.

Hernandez recently renegotiated his contract with the club, and he is now under contract until 2016. He netted 20 goals last season, after he broke onto the scene at the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

Chicharito scored a huge goal for Manchester United today with the team down 1-0 at Anfield. Liverpool tallied first behind a free kick from Steven Gerrard, but Hernandez was able to equalize on a header with just 10 minutes plus stoppage time to play.

Javier Hernandez Chicharito Action

Hernandez always seems to find himself in the right place at the right time, and he teams up very well with striker Wayne Rooney.

The biggest issue for the Mexican star is that the Red Devils have a ton of depth at striker. Outside of Rooney and Hernandez, the club has a number of other players who can play forward including Danny Welbeck, Michael Owen, Ashley Young and Dimitar Berbatov.

United have a problem that other clubs could only dream of having. With all the forwards that the Red Devils have, they have no problem mixing up the lineup and bringing some of their better scoring threats off the bench.

Up until this point, Hernandez has registered three goals in his seven appearances, but he is not an everyday starter. Of course, every star gets a rest now and then, but Hernandez isn't always sent out with the the regular starters.
Through his seven matches, Hernandez is averaging just 45 minutes per game. Even if you eliminate the 10 minutes he played against Stoke, he is still far from averaging the amount of minutes he would like to see.

Hernandez is a fan favorite, and one of the most talented forwards in the game. He has a ton of potential that the Red Devils can still tap into, as he is just 23 years of age. He has been very productive next to Wayne Rooney, and his goal today just proves what he is capable of when he is in the lineup.

Hernandez has earned more starts. Here's to hoping that Sir Alex Ferguson realizes that as well.
