Javier Hernandez fit again, available for Man United game at Stoke City

MANCHESTER (Sporting Alert) — Javier Hernandez has recovered from an injury scare in the last match against Chelsea and is now available for Manchester United clash at Stoke City after training with the full squad this week.

The Mexican international who left the pitch limping after a strong late tackle from Ashley Cole during United’s 3-1 win over Chelsea in the Premier League last week, shocked his manager Sir Alex Ferguson by declaring himself fit to start.

“It’s quite surprising, Hernandez trained yesterday,” Ferguson said.

“He is very lucky. At the time he had no feeling in the leg, there was a numbness there, we thought there may have been some nerve damage — but he’s trained very well and he’s available for tomorrow.”

Hernandez, who has picked from where he left off, following a brilliant debut season last term, is expected to join regular strike partner Wayne Rooney, who is currently the league’s top goalscorer with nine goals – including two hat-tricks.

Michael Owen, following his impressive outing against Leeds United in the Carling Cup when he scored twice in midfield – is also expected to get some playing time.
