The striker we like to call Chicharito has scored six times so far for Mexico in the current CONCACAF Gold Cup hosted in America. Almost a year ago, the States provided the stage for his first appearance and goal in a United shirt.
This Wednesday night he will return to the scene of his Reds debut, the Reliant Stadium in Houston, where he netted in United's 5-2 tour victory over the MLS All-Star team in July 2010. The Gold Cup semi-final against Honduras is the continuation of an amazing season for Chicharito which, he says, is rooted in his club's preparations on American soil last summer.
"Pre-season is very important and you need to work hard in order to start the season well," Chicharito told ManUtd.com recently.
"The facilities in America are wonderful and the coaching staff worked really hard to help us improve."
The young Mexican holds a great affection for America, given that was where his United career started with a bang.

"I have so many great memories of last year’s pre-season tour," he said. "It was the first chance I got to meet up with the team, I had my first training session and played my first match.

"I remember everything about the experience very well, especially my first game. There was a great atmosphere in the stadium. We won the game 5-2 and I managed to score."
A large Hispanic community in Houston meant a hero's welcome for Chicharito when he arrived with United and he can expect more of the same when he plays again there for Mexico.

"The support United have throughout the world is incredible and it was great to see that in America last summer. For me personally everyone was very nice – there are a lot of Mexican people in the States who gave me wonderful support."
